Boston’s Jamaica Plain was originally settled in the early 1600s as a part of the Roxbury neighborhood. The town did not receive its namesake as an independent town until the late 1800s. Jamaica Plain was known for its green spaces and bodies of water including ponds, brooks and marshes. Bordered by Jamaica Plain, Roxbury, Brookline, and Fenway/ Kenmore, Mission Hill allows its residents a short commute to virtually anywhere in Boston, particularly since the Orange Line (Roxbury Crossing Station) and the Green Line E Line (multiple stops, including Brigham Circle) are in close proximity.
